Assalamualaikum.
Good afternoon readers!

Today's topic is about Putu Piring. What kind of food is that?
It is an Indian traditional dish; a steamed rice flour filled with palm sugar and freshly grated coconut. Now you know what it is.

Where is it from?
It is from Kerala and Tamilnadu, India. The "Putu" name itself from Tamil which is means made from rice flour. In Bangladesh, it is called Bhapa Pitha, they made them during the cold season. Then, it spreads its influence to the Southeast Asia region. In Indonesia, it is called Aseupan (in Sundanese language) means the method of cooking used; steaming. In Malaysia, it can be found at the night market. This simple sweet dessert is enjoyable eating during the evening with tea.

It has many kinds of shapes and versions. Awug Aseupan is steamed in a big cone, Putu Mayam is just like soft rice noodle, Putu Bambu is steamed inside cute bamboo. To make it fragrant, they lay it on the banana leaf that has been cut to smaller square.
